In continuous cold roll cladding the materials which are to be joined are introduced into the roll gap in the form of strip and are pressed together in the first pass by a reduction of at least 50 per cent of the total thickness.
The surface preparation which is carried out in line ensures uniform cold welding at the interfaces during this high deformation.
The composite is further stabilized by means of subsequent processing steps such as annealing and rolling. Fine adjustment of the process permits not only the attainment of the required dimensions but also the simultaneous achievement of uniform technological properties in the product.
